About the Choir
Meet the Director
Her gospel musical journey has been shaped by the powerful voices and traditions of artists and groups such as Tramaine Hawkins, Fred Hammond, Andraé Crouch, John P. Kee, Kirk Franklin and the Mississippi Mass Choir. Their music has been an important influence on her musical development, alongside her own decades of experience performing, studying and leading gospel music.
Her leadership has included founding and directing the London Kids Community Gospel Choir since 2022.
She now extends that work through the London Legacy Community Gospel Choir, an adult gospel choir that brings the same commitment to musical excellence, community, passion and joy to London’s adult singers. She is excited to bring people together through gospel music—to build meaningful connections, strengthen community, and support mental well-being through the joy and therapeutic power of singing.
Rooted in faith and the vibrant culture of gospel music, the choir offers singers an opportunity to grow vocally, connect authentically, and experience the joy, energy and transformative power of singing together.
We look forward to sharing the joy of gospel music, with the community very soon!
Achlaï Ernest Wallace, MA,
Founder & Director
Achlaï Ernest Wallace is a formally trained professional musician, classically trained pianist, gospel vocalist, worship leader and choir director with decades of musical experience.
She began her musical journey at an early age through gospel music and performance, developing a deep connection to the musical traditions, vocal expression and communal spirit of gospel.
Achlaï received her classical piano training at École de musique Vincent-d’Indy, graduating with Lauréat II in 1999. Her musical experience extends well beyond classical training, encompassing decades of gospel performance, vocal leadership and musical direction.
This unique combination of formal classical musicianship and deep gospel experience shapes Achlaï's approach to teaching. She understands the technical foundations of music while also understanding the heart, history, vocal tradition and joyful communal expression that make gospel music so powerful.
